no power, not so no work!

I did go to work, however with the power out all over Darwin today no can do day job. So I got to come home and have some fun in the studio instead. Lucky I had the bits and pieces all ready to go, as it was the only thing I could do whilst powerless.

Puttin together some little uns

                                                               and some big uns
and started on a couple of really big-uns-es, when the power came back
above is a satellite dish picked up this morn from the dump shop. Will make some ceramic bits to stick on and add colour, and perhaps some other bits that I have hidden in my lovely junk pile in the chook yard. This goes with that, goes with this, and so on and so on and so on...

Had these bits and pieces sitting (above) around for way too long.
Nice to get it together with some colour on and have them in the garden for a while.
Bits of brass, copper, ceramic with nuts and bolts galore. Just my cup of tea!

painting and stacking

Been having a painting frenzy of late
got to get making so I can have some social time in the very near future
(trips away, then friends a stayin)

We'll go from the top photos- bisque fire, then gloss fire -
to turn out like the bottom photos, all shiny and pretty

Put these on stems with leaves
It sure won't happen overnight, but it will happen.

Terra Sige Sagger Sarger

Bit like cooking a chicken in a pot only hotter! (and this is an eagle)

Make sure pot lid fits tight, fill rest of pot with sawdust and seaweed

close him up
and fire to 930 degrees

                                                                           open him up
cool blackness and fiery smoke, local slips and terra sig
BBQ ed  in our new kiln from the dump.

G's firing turned out lovley

Close up of the penguin - freshly fired

New range of tiny plates

Always exciting to look into the kiln and see the shiny colours

Holey

Been busy today getting stems ready for the little flowers.

Makin holes to bolt the leaves to the stems. Buckets of leaves done, big small and lots more too.

G cleaned the pottery after he loaded his gloss kiln. He fired a couple of saggars today and we will post photos of them soon. They need a clean up and a polish first.

G was busy last week

G threw, painted and fired to bisque.
It's the first pattern design we ever did together.
Doesn't hurt to revisit the past.
(this design started 17 years ago)

All in a days work

Today - A dozen chooks ready to paint

And today
Handles on tea cups - flowers thrown and made
ready to be painted
Love to have something to look forward too.

It's been a busy week. G's in Alice Springs so I have painted, painted and painted.
Nice to keep busy when the house is so quiet, sure beats housework
